It's Warm Weather Time Again! Be Smart.

It's time for sunny, warm weather again, and with it comes a world of outdoor activities.

Here are some tips for staying healthy while you enjoy the all the pleasures that Northern California has to offer.

Sunburn

When you're headed outside, limit your time in the sun to a sensible amount. A great deal of sun exposure and skin damage occurs in the first 18 years of life. Take advantage of shady areas and don't forget to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated at least SPF15 to 30. And wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes. You might even wear a rashguard to stay sun-safe and look extra-cool.

Insect Bites

Bug bites are another downside of playing outside. Besides being itchy, those bites can carry infections. Use insect repellents with 30% DEET or DEET-free formulas such as Avon's Skin So Soft.

Allergies

After the winter rains stop, everything starts blooming and pollen begins to cover everything outside, making it impossible to avoid. If your child is experiencing allergy symptoms -- itchy eyes, sniffles, headaches -- call us for an appointment. Warm months are just too much fun to feel miserable.

Poison Oak

Attention hikers and patients who live in the hills! Stay on clear trails and be on constant guard for poison oak. If you know you've contacted it, look for Tecnu products to lessen itchy effects. If you have a bad rash, come and see us for help.
